THE MANGER

Christmas -a period set aside for the celebration of Christ birth. When we talk about birth especially in this Festive mood ,no other birth catches our attention other than the birth of JESUS CHRIST. Having left Heaven (a place of comfort) and being born to this Earth all in the mission of serving mankind from eternal destruction.
 I once asked myself
; how on earth would a saviour come so humble and been born in a manger,He would have chosen to be given birth to in the World's best Clinic then or attended to by the best Medics.Eventually i realise that he choose too to prove How Supreme he his .

 HOW A  STABLE LOOKS LIKE

The scene is familiar to billions the world over: a ramshackle but warm stable, a newborn baby lying in a manger, and a collection of livestock standing peacefully in the background. But was it really like that? What animals would actually have there been in a Bethlehem stable 2000 years ago, and what else was lurking in the shadows and dirt? There are no first-hand accounts of the birth of Jesus. Nevertheless, the archaeology of the region has given us a wealth of information on the history of domestic animals, and veterinary science allows us to make educated guesses about the animals likely to have witnessed such an event. Our sketch of the Nativity scene is in no way definitive, but it represents a best guess at what might have been around. Lowing cattle, etc Most of the familiar farmyard animals were firmly domesticated by Jesus’s time, possibly because wild animals were being over-hunted and people needed another food source. “With the exception of the turkey, all livestock animals had been domesticated a long time before the birth of Jesus,” says Albano Beja-Pereira of the University of Porto in Portugal. Sheep were probably the first, with an initial wave of domestication 11,000 years ago and a second 6000 years ago. Cattle followed shortly afterwards: they were domesticated in south-west Asia from wild animals called aurochs and then taken to Africa and Europe. Pigs were domesticated around the same time, in several different places
Creepy-crawlies The obvious answer is insects and parasites, in huge numbers. Densely packed creatures are always tempting targets for parasites looking for a home, and domestic animals are no exception. If we go with tradition and assume that Jesus was born in winter, any animals in the vicinity would have been crawling with lice. Cows would surely have been infested with cattle-biting lice, which chew on their hair and skin. “Lice are more common in winter, because the animals’ coats are longer and thickly matted,” says Richard Wall of the University of Bristol, UK. Animals shed their winter coats in spring, along with most of their lice, so a summer birth would have been less itchy. Anyone hanging around a stable would have been irritated by the bazaar fly, the Middle East equivalent of the common housefly. As well as buzzing around infuriatingly, the fly can also spread the eye disease trachoma. Plenty of insects bite humans, and some are willing to venture indoors. Stable flies mostly feed on the blood of livestock, particularly cattle, but they do sometimes bite humans as well. Aside from the obvious harmful effects of having one’s blood sucked, some of these flies carry anthrax. It’s best to be careful when using straw as bedding, too. It is often infested with straw itch mites, one of the most aptly named organisms around. They do not feed off humans, preferring to eat other insects, but if they get on your skin they can cause dermatitis. Flesh-eaters Annoying and potentially harmful as these species are, their unpleasantness pales in comparison with that of the sheep bot fly. Adult females squirt live maggots up the noses of sheep, where they crawl up into the sinuses and head cavity. The maggots spend the winter there, feeding on the animal’s mucous membranes. In spring they crawl back down into the nostril and get sneezed out. Notwithstanding their name, the flies don’t limit themselves to sheep. Unlucky humans can wind up with maggots living in their throats or up their noses, which can cause fever. Particularly unfortunate individuals suffer ophthalmomyiasis – maggots living in their eye sockets. Another insect with a similar lifestyle is the spotted flesh fly, a common pest in the Middle East. Disdaining noses, they insert their young into open wounds and scratches, including navel wounds where umbilical cords have been detached. They often go for the genitals, infecting millions of animals around the world. Humans are not safe, and there are rare cases of newborn babies being infected. We won’t even mention rats and mice. All in all, if you are about to give birth, try and arrange to do so somewhere other than a stable.

SIGNIFICANT OF THE MANGER

Believe it or not, Jesus wasn't actually born in a manger (a food trough for animals). But after Jesus was delivered, his mother did lay Him in a manger after wrapping Him in swaddling cloths. So why was Jesus laid in an animal feed trough in the first place? Thousands of years ago, God the Father promised His Son's birth soon after Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:15). Because sin now created a rift in mankind's relationship with God, we needed a Savior who would sacrifice Himself as payment for the sins of those who believe in Him. To that end, God put a plan in motion that would result in the birth, ministry, death, and resurrection of the only Being capable of becoming the perfect sacrifice God's justice and holiness required. When Jesus's mother, Mary, was pregnant, she was forced to travel to the town of Bethlehem with her husband, Joseph, so their family could be counted in a census of the entire Roman territory (Luke 2:1–5). This fulfilled the prophecy saying the Messiah would be born in that city: "But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days" (Micah 5:2). Some time after they arrived, Mary gave birth to Jesus. The Bible tells us that the reason Mary laid Jesus in the manger was because "there was no place for them in the inn" (Luke 2:7). There is more than one meaning for the Greek word for "inn" (kataluma)—it can refer to a hotel-like residence, but it can also be translated as "lodging-place." This has caused some controversy as to whether or not Jesus was actually born in a house with an area serving as a nighttime shelter, or a stable as many suppose (taken from the fact that Jesus was laid in a manger). Many houses in that day had a wooden or stone feeding trough for the animals that were brought in against the cold night. If Jesus was born in a house, it is likely that Mary and Joseph were relegated to the lower floor due to the overcrowding in the upper-level guest rooms. Regardless of the exact location of Jesus' birth, Jesus' first bed was an indicator of His nature and purpose. Rather than coming to earth amidst fanfare and in plush surroundings, the King of Creation and God's own Son was born among animals, with his very first visitors being lowly shepherds from the fields. This humble king would grow up to one day sacrifice His life on a cross for sinners, rise again, and then return to His Father's side in power and glory.

THE MOST POWERFUL DOCTOR 2

Good morning dear fellow readers and welcome back to the concluding aspect of  THE MOST POWERFUL DOCTOR

HOW CAN A BROKEN HEART AND A WOUNDED SPIRIT BE HEALED

What heals the broken heart and the wounded spirit? What heals the heart is simply a word spoken to the depths of the spirit of the sick person. It is a word that is understood by the spirit of the person in such a way as to resolve the psycho-spiritual pathology - the fear, the conflicts, the anxiety, the guilt, the despair. When this word heals the inner pathology, the whole person can be healed. When Jesus spoke to this woman, with her ears she heard him say, ‘My daughter.’ In her spirit she heard him say, ‘I love you. I accept you. You are worthy to live in my family. You are now healed and made whole’. What she heard in her heart resolved immediately the fear, the rejection, and the despair that were destroying her life. Her heart, mind, and spirit were healed just as her body had been healed. Her dignity was restored and she could return to her family. This healing word can be just one or two words, like those spoken by Jesus to this woman. It may be a longer explanation, instructions, or a story. It can be a passage from the Bible, a word spoken in prayer, or a message spoken to the heart by the Holy Spirit himself. It can also be a picture, a visible image, a symbol which, when perceived by the deep mind, resolves the inner conflicts and brings peace and wholeness. God described this process to the prophet Isaiah in chapter 6, verse 10. ‘Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull, and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.’ Can doctors heal the whole person? Is it possible for us, as doctors who know Jesus, to heal the whole person in this way? Yes it is, but we cannot do it alone. Here are the reasons why:
1)We do not always have time. To listen to the story of a person’s life, as Jesus did with this woman, takes much time.
2)We have not been trained for this. Listening to a person’s story and then discerning the word needed to heal the heart requires training and experience. 3)We are almost completely preoccupied with physical technology, We rarely think of the psychological, social, or spiritual life of sick persons who come to us for help.
              WAY OUT!!!

There is, however, a way we can heal the whole person. It is by bringing together a healing team of Christian healthcare professionals and pastoral care persons. In addition to their scientific knowledge and skills, all of the team members including doctors need to have a deep knowledge of the Bible and of the immense resources Christ has made available to us for healing broken hearts and wounded spirits.
HOPE you are blessed with this little piece .

THE MOST POWERFUL DOCTOR 1

 JESUS THE MOST POWERFUL DOCTOR

Jesus was much more than a medical doctor curing diseases. Yes, he cured leprosy, but he did much more than that; he healed persons who had leprosy. He healed the whole person because he knew that when someone was ill, every part of him was ill - feelings, emotions, heart and spirit, as well as coronary arteries, liver, kidneys or joints. To see how Jesus healed the whole person, we can look at a case study found in Mark 5: 25-34: the healing of the woman with the haemorrhage
. By using reason, imagination, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can add details to the story which, although not included in the written text, were most likely present. This woman suffered from irregular uterine bleeding for twelve years. The diagnosis? Certainly not cancer; probably a hormonal imbalance. Presumably she had pain with her bleeding that interfered with her daily routine. She was anaemic, weak, and unable to perform her duties in the home and family. I assume she was childless because, with this hormonal imbalance, she could not conceive. Infertility was a very serious problem for Jewish women, as it is for women in all cultures. Here then is the physical context: a woman with a serious and longstanding gynaecological problem. The social context was worse. According to Levitical law (Lv 15), a woman was unclean during her normal menstrual periods and for seven days thereafter. She was also unclean during any irregular times of bleeding. During these periods, she made unclean her clothes, her house, any furniture or objects she touched, and anyone with whom she came in physical contact. So for twelve long years she herself had been unclean and she rendered her whole world unclean. If she had been married, her husband had most certainly divorced her, her family had probably abandoned her, and she had no friends. Finally, Mark says she was penniless, having spent all her money on futile attempts to be cured. Imagine then, her psychological condition: rejection, sorrow, anguish, bitterness, and perhaps anger at society and at God. Perhaps her biggest burden, however, was the spiritual problem. Because she was unclean, she could not go to the temple to worship God, to pray, to offer a gift, to confess her sins, or to plead for help. Socially she was abandoned; psychologically she was in anguish, and spiritually she was in despair. So Mark is not presenting to us simply a ‘gynaecological case.’ He speaks truly when he says, ‘There was a woman who suffered terribly’ in the totality of her life. One day this woman heard about Jesus, and hope dawned in her heart. However, she herself could not go to Jesus to ask for help for she would render this important man unclean. Another man could go for her - her husband, a brother, a friend, but she had no-one. She was completely abandoned and had no-one to intercede for her. In her misery she conceived a desperate and dangerous plan; she would come up behind Jesus secretly, in the middle of a crowd of people, and touch his clothes. Doing this without being detected was absolutely essential, because if anyone caught her, she would be publicly accused and probably stoned to death. When she touched Jesus’ cloak, she immediately felt something in her body and knew she must escape immediately. But alas, it was impossible. This man Jesus exposed her. She had insulted him. She had made him unclean. Furthermore, she had stolen Jesus’ power. Now he was calling her and she would probably be stoned. So, as Mark described, she came terror-stricken, fell at Jesus’ feet and told him the whole story. Why did Jesus expose this woman? He knew she had been physically healed. We doctors are usually delighted when we have healed someone physically. Could Jesus not be content with that? No, because the woman herself had not been healed; her life had not yet been restored. Jesus wanted to heal her as a whole person, so he called her back to him. As she lay prostrate on the ground before Jesus, waiting to hear words of condemnation, she heard instead two absolutely incredible words, and these two words healed her. She heard Jesus say to her, ‘My daughter’. For 35 years I have practised medicine and surgery in Africa. I have cared for countless women with bleeding problems and infertility. I have done hundreds, perhaps thousands of curettages. But how often have I spoken a word that has healed the whole person, which has restored spirit, mind, feelings, and emotions to health? I must admit, very few times. But that has been because of ignorance, and I am now coming to understand how the heart, mind, spirit, and often the body can be healed by Christ.
HOW CAN A BROKEN HEART AND WOUNDED SPIRIT BE HEALED

GOD & BABY AFTER CLIMACTERIC

Climacteric also known Menopause,is the time in most women's lives when menstrual periods stop permanently, and the woman is no longer able to have children.Menopause typically occurs between 45 and 55 years of age.Medical professionals often define menopause as having occurred when a woman has not had any vaginal bleeding for a year.[ It may also be defined by a decrease in hormone production by the ovaries. In those who have had surgery to remove the uterus but still have ovaries, menopause may be viewed to have occurred at the time of the surgery or when hormone levels fall. Following the removal of the uterus, symptoms typically occur earlier at the average of 45 years of age. Baby after climacteric??? uhmm !!! That sounds strange but take time to read through this story and see how great our God is.
Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible
On December 6, 2012, 59-year-old Mrs. Oloruntoyin Adeola Alabi repeated the biblical Sarah’s feat when she gave birth to a healthy baby girl five years after reaching menopause. This educationist and proprietress of Praise Children’s School, Okota, Lagos proved science wrong and reinforced the belief that with God nothing is impossible. She laughed, just like Sarah did when the prophets told her she would conceive and bear a son. In Mrs Alabi’s case, the forebear didn’t tell the exact sex of the baby as Sarah was told. Alabi, a native of Owu Local Government Area of Ogun State, got married on December 19, 1981, to 62-year-old Pastor Samuel Olasukanmi Alabi from Ibadan Southeast Local Government Area of Oyo State. When Sunday Sun visited the couple’s residence at Okota, Lagos, Mrs Alabi whose joy as she narrated her marital journey turned into misty eyes, said the 31-year-old inter-state marriage had passed through rough times, including three miscarriages in 1982, 1983 and 1984 before the tortuous journey of childlessness. Narrating her ordeal, she said: “I am 59 years and four months old now; I’ll be 60 years by August 2013. I got married on December 19, 1981; that is 31 years ago. It was that I had problem conceiving, because immediately we got wedded, I got pregnant but I had miscarriages. In April 1982, I had the first miscarriage, it was a girl. In 1983, I had another miscarriage, this time it was a set of twins. In 1984, I lost another pregnancy. After that, pregnancy ceased and that was the beginning of my agony.” Extended family pressures Though she could not conceive again after three consecutive miscarriages, she said her in-laws were understanding and co-operative, but her own immediate family members were the ones that gave her sleepless nights. She said her family members wanted her to opt out of the marriage as they felt she might not be compatible with her husband, but as a devout member of the Deeper Life Bible Church, she turned down their offer. When she refused to divorce her husband, her people said she try a herbalist, who they believed could help her get pregnant, but she held on to her faith. She said: “I remember my maternal uncle telling me that maybe it was not the will of God that we should marry, and advised me to end the marriage and look for where I could get pregnant and have a baby. But, as a member of the Deeper Life Bible Church, I told them whatever God has joined together, nobody should put asunder. They made several suggestions, but we turned all of them down because they were against our faith as Christians. It was in the same 1984 that they left us to our faith after they had reminded me that my husband could get married even at the age of 100 and still bear children, but as for me, I have a limited time. In 1994, exactly 10 years after their last visit, they came back again and told me that since my God had still not given me children, I should go with them to an herbalist so that I could have children, but I still rejected the idea. I told them that God would do it and even if He didn’t, there was no cause for alarm, because your children cannot take you to heaven. If you have 10 children and you die, nobody will bury you with any of them; just be good to others so that when you die without a child, there would be people to bury you. So, it was my family that worried us. As for my husband’s family, they were only praying for us. They believed the God we serve would surely answer us.” Medical trip abroad According Mrs Alabi, when all efforts to get pregnant after visits to several hospitals failed and her people were still pressuring her to find solution to her problem, her husband’s younger brother, who lives in the United States of America, invited them over for further medical check. Speaking on their trip to America, she said: “When the pressure from my people became unbearable, my husband’s younger brother who lives in America took us there for assistance. According to the young man, stress in Nigeria was responsible for our problem. He made provision for my husband and I to be together for four months doing what husband and wife do to produce children, but when nothing happened after four months, he decided to take us to hospital. We went to one of the best hospitals in California, and at the end of the day doctors said the drug I was using in Nigeria, Clomate, had damaged all the eggs in my system. I used Clomate for more than 10 years just to conceive as prescribed by my doctor in Nigeria; although my doctor prescribed it only once, but I kept using it each time I saw my menses, hoping I could achieve pregnancy with it. The American doctors said I was old and that there was no live egg in my system again. I was 46 years then.” So, with the verdict of the American doctors, they came back to Nigeria and consigned their fate to God. However, in 2007, at the age of 52, God blessed the Alabi family with a baby girl, Ayomide, but then, the 52-year- old educationist was still menstruating. The prophecy Having had Ayomide, Mrs Alabi looked forward to having more children before the cessation of her menstrual flow, but that did not happen. In 2007, two years after God blessed her with Ayomide, she reached menopause, thus signalling the end of her child-bearing age, according to scientific postulations. Although she had wished for more children, she decided to console herself with Ayomide. So, in January, when a woman prophesied that she would conceive and bear a child this year, she did not believe the woman. Speaking about the prophecy, she said: “I am a member of Deeper Life Bible Church and every January we have a covenant prayer with our General Superintendent (GS) Pastor Kumuyi. It is a one-month programme and when I came back one day from the programme, a woman, whose children attend my school, greeted me and said God had given her a message for me. I offered her a seat and listened to the message. She said she was praying when God told her in a vision to go to ‘Mama Praise’ and tell her that He would visit her with a baby this year, 2012. I just laughed and said okay; but she said I should not laugh because it was a message from God. She started raining curses upon herself if the message was not from God, but I intervened and stopped her. She is a member of another church. Immediately, she left, I went to my pastor to narrate what the woman had told me. That was because I didn’t believe what she told me. If I believed her, I wouldn’t have gone to tell my pastor again. But my pastor said well; let’s believe because there is nothing God cannot do. I still didn’t believe. As we were praying during the second Sunday of that January programme with our GS, I went into prayer mood. I was praying with my assistant pastor who has about nine children and as the prayer went on I held on to the woman and was saying, ‘God, this month should not pass me by. Let what you have said come to pass.’ Knowledge of pregnancy When asked how she knew she was pregnant, she said she went to hospital when her body was aching. She didn’t go to hospital for pregnancy test because she didn’t suspect anything; she had only gone to know why she was feeling pain all over her body: “When I began to feel pains all over my body, I went for a medical check. After examining me, they asked if I wanted to be the biblical Sarah of today; I didn’t believe what they were saying. They told me I was five months pregnant.” Life after medical check up
when she came back from hospital with the result, she said: “I was only eating. I stopped going to church because the distance is far and I was having pains. I was attending the church in my house. I stopped working completely. I needed adequate rest and I was eating lots of vegetables and fruits. I discovered that I consumed more food than before. So, when the pregnancy finally showed, I was filled with joy; I had the joy of the Lord, but I sent for many pastors to pray for me because I still did not believe a baby was inside me. Could it be a disease? I was confused. “When it was time for delivery, the baby only took about 10 minutes and it was through the normal virginal delivery. Her name is Oluwatobi Ayomikun Victoria.” On her husband’s reaction when she told him of the prophecy, Mr Alabi said: “I just said, let the will of God be done, because there is nothing God cannot do, especially with the gift of our daughter who has been a great blessing to us. It’s like she was prophesying when she said, “mummy give me a sister.” We tried to tell her to ask for a brother, but she kept saying sister and that statement touched me because I didn’t want her to be alone. She is now seven. Today, God has answered her prayer and she now has a sister. To me, our God is so good; a God that can bring life out of death. So, it’s like God is bringing life out of death and that’s what really gives me joy.” Like Mrs Alabi, who said her Christian belief never gave her cause to fear that her husband could take a second wife, Mr Alabi also said: “There was nothing like taking a second wife because of my background. I got married in Deeper Life Bible Church. We have been taught that marriage is for life and we believe that. We understand each other.

DRUG ADDICTION AND GOD 2

‘O Lord, listen to my
prayer
And let my cry for help
reach you.
Turn your ear towards me
And answer me quickly
when I call.’
– Psalm 102
Drug abuse causes
multiple problems for
countries and
communities. The
medical and psychological
effects are very obvious. Addicts cannot function
as normal members of society. They neglect or abuse their families, and
eventually require expensive treatment or hospitalization. The second
effect
is on crime. Huge police resources are needed to fight smuggling and
dealing. Criminal gangs and mafia underworlds develop with the money
from
drugs.
WHAT CAN I DO
Take seriously the bondage in which you are involved. God cares about
you
and has a solution.
Your real problem is not an incurable illness, but sin. And Jesus came to
deal
with sin ( I Corinthians 5:11 ). You need to be spiritually reborn and
baptized
with the Holy Spirit. You need to change your life patterns. You also may
need
help for deliverance from drugs and healing.
It is said that it takes thirty-one days to break a habit. Drug addiction is a
“life
dominating” problem, so radical changes must be made regarding
associates,
social atmosphere, places frequented, etc. Replacement, not abstention, is
the
key.
You need to keep busy and occupy your mind with new things
( Philippians 4:8,9 ). Learn to yield yourself to Christ rather than to drugs,
old
friends, self-pity, guilt, fear, etc.
How To Be Spiritually Reborn:-
God has a plan for your salvation. Call on the Lord to save you mind, body
and
soul ( I John 1:9 ). Receive Him as your Savior and Lord ( John 1:12 ).
Believe
Him. He said He would not turn anyone away. He loves you and gave His
life
for you ( John 3:16,17 ).
Pray this prayer right now:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that You
died
on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I know
You
are the only way to God so now I want to quit disobeying You and start
living
for You. Please forgive me, change my life and show me how to know
You. In
Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you av really prayed the prayer
,you need to work in the light therefore by say no to the drug

.Here are some verses of the bible that can help you with the temptation

Proverbs 6:26-29 “ For by means of a whorish woman a
man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress
will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his
bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go
upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that
goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth
her shall not be innocent.”
Proverbs 20:1 “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging:
and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”
Isaiah 5:11 “Woe unto them that rise up early in the
morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue
until night, till wine inflame them!”
Matthew 6:9-13 “ After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us
our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
John 8:36 “ If the
Son therefore
shall make you
free, ye shall be
free indeed.”
Romans 6:16
“Know ye not,
that to whom ye
yield yourselves
servants to obey,
his servants ye
are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of
obedience unto righteousness?”
Romans 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and
make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts
thereof. ”
1 Corinthians 6:12 “ All things are lawful unto me, but all
things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but
I will not be brought under the power of any.”
IN CONCLUSION OF THIS DRUG
ADDICTION AND GOD series….you have toThank God for His love, concern,
and power to save and deliver. Renounce the
drugs, old friends, and hangouts connected with your drug problem. Yield
yourself to Jesus. Thank Him for coming into your heart and filling you
with
the Holy Spirit. Take Him at His word and thank Him for delivering you
from
drugs.

DRUG ADDICTION AND GOD 1

problem in our society. What
does the Bible teach about
mind-altering drugs,
intoxication, and addiction? Is
drug use moral or immoral?
What about marijuana, cocaine, narcotics, LSD, hallucinogens, stimulants,
sedatives, hypnotics, psychedelics, and heroin? What does the word of God
say a Christian should believe?
Some people may believe that the Bible has little to say about drugs, but
this
is not so. First, the Bible has a great deal to say about the most common
and most abused drug–alcohol. Scripture admonishes Christians not to be
drunk with wine (Eph. 5:18) and calls drunkenness a sin (Deut. 21:20-21;
Amos 6:1; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-20). The Bible also warns of the
dangers
of drinking alcohol (Prov. 20:1; Isaiah 5:11; Hab. 2:15-16), and, by
implication,
the dangers of taking other kinds of drugs.
Second, drugs were an integral part of many ancient Near East societies.
For
example, the pagan cultures surrounding the nation of Israel used drugs
as
part of their religious ceremonies. Both the Old Testament and New
Testament condemn sorcery and witchcraft. In those days, drug use was
tied
to sorcery (the word translated “sorcery” comes from the Greek word from
which we get the English words pharmacy and pharmaceutical). Drugs
were
prepared by a witch or shaman. They were used to enter into the spiritual
world by inducing an altered state of consciousness that allowed demons
to
take over the mind of the user. In our day, many use drugs merely for so-
called recreational purposes, but we cannot discount the occult
connection.
Galatians 5:19-21 says:
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity
and debauchery, idolatry and witchcraft [which includes the use of
drugs]; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I
warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit
the kingdom of God. …………………
you Can be free today from the power of addiction …
